Join us for a week in the South Pacific to snorkel with humpback whales. Every August to October they migrate from Antarctica to the warm waters of French Polynesia to rest, mate, give birth and nurse their calves, which gives us a unique chance to share the water with them.

About the Trip

Marine Life

Humpback whales: mothers with their calves, male singers, juveniles and groups of humpbacks together.
Also around Moorea: pilot whales, spinner dolphins, rough-toothed dolphins, oceanic whitetip sharks, and stingrays and reef sharks in the lagoon.

Every August to October, southern humpback whales migrate from the cold waters of Antarctica to French Polynesia to rest, mate, give birth and nurse their calves. Sightings depend on nature, so we plan each day around the ocean conditions and the whales' activity.

The price is per person and includes your accommodation for the 6 nights of the expedition. We stay together in a local house, where everyone has their own room and plenty of space to be comfortable. No roommates, no extra cost. If you want to arrive early, tell us and we'll share recommendations for where to stay before the trip.

Getting There & Transportation

    Fly into Tahiti Faa'a International Airport. We recommend arriving at least one day early to rest and travel comfortably; tell us and we'll share recommendations for where to stay.

    Taxi to the ferry terminalAbout 10 min · Est. $20
    From the airport, take a taxi to the ferry terminal in Papeete. We can help you arrange it.

    Ferry to MooreaYou book · Est. $18
    Take the 12:00 PM ferry from Papeete to Moorea. The ride takes less than an hour. We meet the group at the Vaiare Ferry Terminal in Moorea at 1:00 PM on day 1 and drive together to our lodging.

    Back to TahitiYou book · Est. $18
    On the last day we leave the lodging at 12:00 PM and drive you to Vaiare for the 1:30 PM ferry, arriving in Tahiti around 2:20 PM. Book your flight home with enough time after that, and remember the ferry schedule can change.
Ethical Encounters

We never force an interaction. We respect the whales' space, follow the local rules for swimming with them, and always let the whales decide how close they want to be.
